2016 Goals: Giving More

Many people make New Year's resolutions, but they rarely work. Did you know:

  • 25 percent of people desert their New Year's resolutions after one week?
  • 60 percent of people desert their resolutions within six months?

Rather than be included in these statistics, I wanted to achieve my 2015 goals of serving more, so I wrote them down for the first time last year.

It worked.

In addition to the 20 blog posts I published on my site, including an entire series on medical school applications, my work was featured on sites including:

Moreover, I offered several free seminars at local schools and community centers.

While reflecting on my 2015 service with a close friend, I realized I want to give more in 2016. I intend for my giving to take on many forms, including:

  • donating school supplies
  • donating admissions materials (e.g., books on admissions essays)
  • financial donations
  • additional speaking engagements
  • your suggestions

I could use your help with the last bullet. What suggestions do you have for ways I can give more in 2016?

Most importantly, however, I want to thank all of my subscribers, students, supporters, and families and organizations I worked with in 2015 for making it an incredible year, and wish you a very happy holiday season. Here's to an even better 2016!
